STEP ONE: Know yourself...
Before you launch into getting involved in Healthy Planet/climate change and health, it’s worth stopping for a moment to consider the first rule of campaigning: know yourself well.
The first question you need to think about is what drives you and what's led you to care about the issue. You don't need to share this with anyone of course, but it's a helpful exercise to work through in a notebook or the back of an envelope - remind yourself why it is that you care.
Why does climate change and health matter to you, and how did you come to realise that?
What are the main reasons you want to be involved in Healthy Planet UK?
Then you may want to have a think about:
Unless you already feel well-equipped to get going, one of the most important next steps is probably to become better informed - both about content and the lay of the land where you live as it relates to climate change and health. Then you may want to link up with some others around where you are and start planning. That's where the real fun begins! Do get in touch to see if there are others who we can connect you up with and to ask for ideas on what to focus on.
The first steps are always the trickiest, but we hope this start-up guide will help with that.

Then you may want to have a think about:
- What level is your knowledge at related to climate and health and the science, politics and economics that surround it?
- What sort of skills are you most keen to develop through being involved in Healthy Planet UK - teamwork, leadership, project and event management, advocacy, communication, teaching?
- What you think are your main strengths and weaknesses? (this or this might be useful, but take the results with a pinch of salt!)
