Our guide to help you set up a new Healthy Planet branch
The first thing to do if you're interested in setting up a branch is talk to us! We'd be happy to arrange a time to chat. This page and the links within it don't cover the more practical things like setting up a facebook group, finding funds etc in much detail, but are more aimed at helping you think about your motivations, what you might want to do, and how to be effective at it.
We'll try to point you towards some of what you may need to learn to do that, and some people and organisations who may be able to help you out, but obviously we can't include everything in a general guide, so just get in touch if you have other questions or feel there's something missing (or just in general).
We may also be able to skype with you, and/or come to your medical school and run a workshop as you're starting up, especially if there are Medsin or student union funds to cover travel.

10 Steps to Success...
Pace yourself. It's good to get started while you're feeling motivated, but don't rush into it. These are a series of steps to plan and take over quite a long period - in fact they'll be spread across the duration of your involvement with Healthy Planet.
Try not to start too many things at once, nor allow yourself to be too daunted by getting going even though you may not feel quite ready. Focusing just on steps one and two for a decent amount of time will stand you in good stead for the others (and most other activities you do in the future!) although of course they're ongoing things.
If you do want to get involved, contact us - we're happy to chat over ideas and help how we can - and it would be great if, as you do more stuff, you could keep us posted on what you're up to, whether by email, facebook, sharing blogs and photos etc. The national committee are a friendly bunch, and are always happy to give you advice and/or support wherever we can.
· Step One: Know yourself
· Step Two: Inform yourself about the issues
· Step Three: Research your own setting (from a climate/sustainability & health perspective)
· Step Four: Find other people - it's a team game
· Step Five: Plan and prioritise your actions to make a difference
· Step Six: Get your medical school on board
· Step Seven: Take the issues to your MP (and any other leaders or policy makers you can contact)
